CALL LOG #1

USER F. Black: This is Blackhawk Six calling into the main dispatch about Mission [REDACTED].

DISPATCH: Blackhawk Six, this is Dispatch. Do you have an approximate location? Your GPS isn’t working.

USER F. Black: Over the New Old West, near Blacktown, as far as I can tell.

DISPATCH: (Long pause) Blackhawk Six, please use official designations.

USER F. Black: Ugh. Fine. We’re over the Southern Great Plains near Town Eighteen. I can see it in the distance but I’m not close enough for them to see.

DISPATCH: Copy. (Brief pause) Okay. There’s a landing strip about ten degrees to your left. Please make the adjustments to your flight.

USER F. Black: Adjustments made. What am I picking up?

DISPATCH: You don’t need to know.

USER F. Black: Like hell I don’t. I’ve got sixteen men from the Black on board and I’d like to know how much danger I’m about to put myself in.

DISPATCH: (Long pause) Copy. Requesting information access now.

USER F. Black: Oh for fucks sake-

USER [REDACTED]: Second Leuitenant Fin Black?

USER F. Black: (Sharp inhale) Major General [REDACTED]?

USER [REDACTED]: Correct. I’m breaking protocol because this is dangerous. You are picking up a subject we haven’t identified yet. Do you recall the incident with Captain Crenshaw?

USER F. Black: (Long pause) He was a friend of mine.

USER [REDACTED]: My condolences. We believe we’ve caught the assailant involved and we need to bring him in.

USER F. Black: You said, assailant?

USER [REDACTED]: Yes. The one that-

USER F. Black: The reports said there were more than one.

USER [REDACTED]: Don’t make this difficult. Please.

USER F. Black: (Long pause) Copy that, Major General. I’m approaching the landing strip.

USER [REDACTED]: Copy. Stay safe, Fin.
